MODEL APPROACH TO A ESTIMATE OF THE TOTAL EXCHANGE CARBON FLUX FOR ECOSYSTEMS OF EUROPEAN RUSSIA
Svirezev, Yu.M., Golubyatnikov, L.L., Denisenko, E.A. and
V.A. Brovkin, 1997.
Summary The total exchange carbon flux is determined as a difference between the net primary production in carbon units and carbon emission due to organic matter destruction. Its quantitative significance permits to evaluate the balance of natural carbon fluxes for a territory under study. Due to the lack of direct measurements of necessary carbon fluxes the indirect method using a dynamic model of spatially distributed global carbon cycle is suggested for a problem decision. The annual productivity and phytomass data for various vegetation patterns on a given territory, the cellulose destruction experimental data, the soil carbon residence time data and the information about natural and agricultural lands are used for the calibration of the model. The European territory of Russia is chosen as an object for research. The obtained result allows to conclude that the given territory is the sink for carbon and the annual total exchange carbon flux approximately equals 81 Mt for it. Download (PDF, in Russian) |
